| Summary: | Este projeto tem como objetivo elaborar um catálogo fotográfico da cidade de Paracatu Estado de Minas Gerais. As fotografias foram tiradas tendo como fio condutor as imagens de três fotógrafos: Olympio Gonzaga, Otto Dornfield e Oliveira Mello, que registraram a cidade ao longo do seu desenvolvimento, no início do século XIX - 1910, 1940 e 2001, respectivamente. A cidade ficou conhecida pela exploração do ouro, que fez um pequeno arraial tornar-se vila e, posteriormente, uma cidade com aproximadamente 85 mil habitantes. O impacto desse crescimento gerou mudanças no aspecto físico, econômico e cultural, mostradas claramente nas fotografias atuais em relação com as do século passado. O trabalho é importante para reiterar o valor da fotografia como objeto de estudo e, ao mesmo tempo, documento e história. A confrontação entre o ontem e o hoje, a partir da imagem, avalia o crescimento e desenvolvimento da cidade, contribuindo para a recuperação e preservação da memória histórica de Paracatu. |
| Abstract: | This project aims to develop a photographic catalog of the city of Paracatu (MG). The photographs were taken with the thread images three photographers: Gonzaga Olympio, Otto Dornfield and Oliveira Mello, who recorded the city throughout its development in the early nineteenth century - in 1910, 1940 and 2001, respectively. The city was known for gold mining, which made a small camp become village and then a town with approximately 85,000 inhabitants. The impact of this growth has led to changes in the physical, economic and cultural, clearly shown in the photographs today compared with the past century. The work is important to reiterate the value of photography as an object of study and, at the same time, and document history. The confrontation between yesterday and today, from the image, assesses the growth and development of the city, contributing to the recovery and preservation of historical memory of Paracatu. |
