Correlação entre as alterações posturais nos idosos e risco de queda

Abstract

Objective: to identify the falling risk in institutionalized elderly on DF, and its correlation with postural deviation and the postural deviation that are more frequent. Methods: The research involved 46 elderly women institutionalized with average age of 76,11 ± 9,07 years. To assess the speed to walk and the functional mobility it was used the test Time Up & Go (TUG) indicating that, as higher the time to do it, in seconds, higher is the falling risk. To postural analyses it was used a computerized Photogrammetry (software SAPO) and designed a protocol in which anatomical points were set on the elderly skin, with the goal to analyze the angles and distance. The images were taken on the frontal and sagittal plane. The results were analyzed with the software SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences), 10.0 for Windows. To verify postural deviation influences on falling risk (TUG) it was done the Spearman correlation, considering that p ≤ 0,05. Results: Postural deviations mostly found were lateral inclination of head, shoulder and pelvis. There was statistically significant correlation between postural deviation and falling risk related to neck hyperextension. It wasn’t found any relation with the other postural deviation. The sample showed overall mild risk of falling. Final Regards: This trial reported that the neck hyperextension influences the falling risk, and it may have happened as compensatory way since a whole presence of bending modifications lead these individuals bending forward.
