LEDs e OLEDs: uma visão comparativa

Abstract

This scientific work aims to analyze, in a comparative and introductory basis, the physical properties of LEDs and OLEDs. The purpose of this analysis is to identify the efficiency limits of each one of these devices. For that matter, the eternal quantum efficiency has been used as a supporting tool for this research, considering that it can be found in both of the semiconductors. Quantum efficiency is related with the semiconductor’s material choice and also manufacturing factors as the injection process of charge carriers, the transportation, the recombination of the electron-hole pairs and the photons emission. LEDs tend to improve their efficiency with the news studies on coloidal nanocrystalline’s semiconductors. Equally, OLEDs tend to improve their marginal efficiency with studies regarding the process of reutilization of the electron-hole.
