A China na África: um caso de imperialismo?

Abstract

This paper aims to carry out an analysis based on theories that propose an understanding of the concept of Imperialism. The study of the term was exemplified through the relations between China and three African countries: South Africa, Egypt and Guinea, as the three are considered a landmark in the history of modern China. What was sought was to understand if China is in fact configured as an imperialist actor in these countries. To understand whether this question is valid, it was necessary to present an overview of the concept of imperialism, a background on the relationship between African countries and China and an analysis of the concept of imperialism applied to this relationship. To make the study feasible, a literature review was carried out, focused on describing the main concept and analyzing the relationship of the concept with the actors. Finally, what was understood through the analysis was that China and African countries have a cooperative relationship of mutual gains, but the understanding of these gains is seen differently between the two actors.
