“Eu não consigo te dar colo”: os impactos da fibromialgia na maternidade

Abstract

Fibromyalgia is a chronic disease that affects mostly women, and have an affect in their mood, physical capacities and cause constant pains, sometimes the symptoms of the disease are crossed by other realities of great impact, as the maternity. This project aim to problematize the existence of a relation between the chronic pain of fibromyalgia and the notion of self-efficacy, as mothers, in women who live with this condition, making use of the qualitative method of content analysis, proposed by Bardin, in reports made by women-mothers in groups for patients with fibromyalgia in social media. It was possible to stablish a relation between feeling pain and the notion of not being a good mother, because these women are physically incapable of constantly giving themselves to their children and as it is a silent disease and with little visible evidence the support network tends not to validate this painful experience. Which indicates the need for actions aimed at raising awareness about fibromyalgia.
