| Summary: | A presente pesquisa objetiva abordar como a Organização das Nações Unidas respondeu aos crimes contra humanidade cometidos pelo regime Khmer Vermelho entre os anos de 1975 a 1979. Para uma melhor compreensão da temática, a primeira parte do estudo volta-se ao panorama histórico, os reflexos que as Guerras da Indochina tiveram no Camboja e a relação entre estes conflitos e a ascensão do Khmer Vermelho. Na segunda parte, o cunho da abordagem é jurídico, são esclarecidas as principais noções acerca dos Direitos Humanos, da Convenção Internacional para Prevenção e Repressão do Crime de Genocídio e da ordem jurídica internacional vigente ao genocídio cambojano e do Sistema Internacional de Proteção a Pessoa Humana. A terceira parte dedica-se a abordagem da atuação das Nações Unidas no pós-genocídio, atentando-se para a influência de Estados estrangeiros e as possíveis limitações que ela impôs às Nações Unidas. |
| Abstract: | This research aims to approach how the United Nations responded to the crimes against humanity committed by the Khmer Rouge regime between 1975-1979. For a better understanding of the subject, the first part of the study turns to the historical background and the Indochina Wars’ reflections in Cambodia and the relations between these conflicts and the ascension of the Khmer Rouge. In the second part, the approach is juridical, are observed the main ideas about Human Rights and also its internationalization, the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide and the international legal order in force during the Cambodian genocide, and the International Human Right System. The third part is about the role of the UN in post-genocide, focusing to the influence of foreign states and possible limitations it imposed on the United Nations. |
