A possibilidade de remição de pena por participação em cultos religiosos

Abstract

This present scientific article adresses discussions about the possibility of penalty redemption by the participation in religious services within Brazilian Prisons. The rehabilitation of the human being goes through different areas, and undoubtedly, religion is one of the main factors for the man’s transformation, not only about their moods and attitude, but also about the concepts and values that support them for their position towards life and society, when coming back to it. The guarantee of religous assistance in prisons is of great relevance to the condemned, for the behavioral improvement that it brings and the resocialization achieved through pratice, so that the opportunity to redeem the penalty by participating in religous services must be discussed and become a reality for those who seek through the faith an life’s improvement. The redemption by the participation in religious services, must be justified by our law, because the favorable factors that it brings are of great value both for the person of the condemned and for the State itself, which will return to the society a more adequate person to live peacefully in society and with lower possibility to re-engage with criminal practices.
