Quando a literatura traz um novo olhar para a homoafetividade: contos infantis que ajudam a vencer o preconceito

Abstract

Given human’s creative capacity of establishing new perceptions to the social interaction which give strength to build culture, it is seem that social identities created centuries ago still are considered a strong statement of judging and bullying inside the educational environment. Because of that, children’s literature is presenting a new perspective on heteronormativity and on family and is helping to overcome prejudice related to the sexual diversity. This paper aims to show how literature may be an important tool to make children aware in the school because it is where is accommodated the highest number of differences. Through the analysis of the book “Heather has two mommies” we will try to show that it is possible to introduce gender and sexual themes inside children’s reality. Its language, images and written words make children see beyond of what is directly presented. As a consequence, extracting the fictitious and using it as a part of children’s reality, it is when the intrinsic educational nature of literature helps on building and preserving a society free from the prejudice regarded all sort of human being’s alterity.
